Support teachers are an essential part to our Give Back Academy (GBA) curriculum. They provide individualized attention and give extra support to students who may need it. But did you know that support teachers are also incredibly beneficial to lead teachers? Here are just a few ways that support teachers can help lead teachers and improve the overall classroom experience for all students involved.
First and foremost, support teachers help lead teachers with lesson planning and classroom management. By working together, as an educational team, support and lead teachers collaborate on creating a lesson plan that meets the needs of all the students in the classroom. Support teachers can assist in classroom management by ensuring that all students are engaged and on task. This can free up time for the lead teachers to focus on delivering the lesson and making the classroom experience more efficient and effective for everyone.
Support teachers can also provide additional support and attention to students who may need it. For example, in my experience, students have asked for help in reading, writing and even translating. Assisting in these areas help the students feel more supported and can lead to higher levels of engagement overall by the students.
What are your thoughts on more ways support teachers can help during GBA lessons? While you gather your thoughts, I would like to leave you with this quote:
